As we know pradhan mantri jandhan yojana launched on 28 August 2014. the main objective of the program is basic financial service to each and every Indians and this is part of financial inclusion scheme also. basic service like saving account, credits, remittance etc. targeting to unbanked people and underserved people

- Financial inclusion: In this program promote Financial literacy and provide basic banking Services..
- DBT( Direct Benefit Transfer): One of the biggest target was set by preset Government( BJP) Which was DBT so that beneficiary can get government befits from government to beneficiary no middle man policy.
- Minimum one bank account to every family .
Benefits of the programs
- No minimum balance requirement.
- After 6 month completion of account opening 10 thousands overdraft facility provide by bank.
- Rupay debit card and accidental insurance cover now 2 lakhs
- Mobile banking facility.
- Life insurance cover Rs: 30,000 who open accounts in starting of the programs present not available .
Achievement of the programs
- Increase in digital transactions because of Rupay cards, people using digital platforms like UPI, INTERNET BANKING, and Mobile Banking.
- Financial inclusion improvement due to pradhan mantri jandhan yojana . PMJDY has brought millions of people into the formal banking system ,.
- PMJDY provides the majority of accounts in the name of women, so women’s improvement is also an achievement which provides women with financial independence .
- DBT (direct benefits transaction) achievement. Now a day’s, most of the government benefits are provided through DBT, like Gas subsidy, PMAY, etc.
Key statistics as on 21.04.2025
- Total accounts opened 55.17 crores.
- Total deposits in accounts Rs: 2.65 lakh crores
- RuPay debits cards issued till 38 crore under pradhan mantri jandhan yojana.
- Total female account holders of PMJDY 56% ( 32 crore accounts ), total accounts open under PMJDY
- Accounts opened in rural and semi-rural are most of the accounts nearly 36.63 crore.

- Private sector bank account opened 1.80 crore and deposits Rs: 7463.89 crore.
- Public sector bank accounts opened 42.80 lakhs and deposited Rs: 202400.32 crores
- Regional rural bank accounts opened 10.38 crores and deposited Rs : 51600 crores,
Restriction over PMJDY
- Maximum balance at any time Rs: 50,000 .
- Total credit in a year Rs. 10,000 .
- Withdrawal and Transfer in a months not more than 10,000
Eligibility criteria
- Any Indian who have no any bank account with any bank
- Age must be 10 years or older are eligible 10 years minor can open BSBDA accounts with the supervision of a guardian
Document for open PMJDY account
Aadhar card and Aadhar address is difference then self declaration should be given
If you do have an Aadhar card, anyone OVD(official vaild document) should be submitted
- voter ID card
- Driving licence
- passport
- NREGA job card
- pan card
If you do have even these document, you canstill open small saving account
in small saving account maximum balance Rs. 50,000
Total credit in a year should not more than 1,00,000.
Withdrawal and Transfer not more than 10,000in a month.
And validity of the accounts is only 12 months, and it can be extend 12 months more after provide OVD
